Africa Link Cargo mobile app — Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how AFRICA LINK CARGO LTD (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile application (the “App”). By using the App, you agree to the practices described below.

1. Information we collect

The App collects only the information needed to operate the logistics service for our existing clients:

  • Phone number — used to authenticate you with a one-time password (OTP) sent over WhatsApp.
  • Account profile — your name, business name, and the company branch you sign in to. This information is provided by our office staff when your account is created and is fetched from our server when you log in.
  • Shipment and transaction data — the parcels, containers, freight invoices, payments, balances, and request history associated with your account.
  • Device language — read once at first launch to display the App in your preferred language. We do not store this on our servers.
  • Local app preferences — your selected branch and language are stored on your device using the operating system’s secure storage. They never leave your device.

The App does not collect contacts, photos, location, microphone, camera, calendar, or advertising identifiers.

2. How we use your information
  • To send you a one-time login code via WhatsApp.
  • To display your shipments, transactions, documents, and request status.
  • To process load requests and cash advance requests you submit through the App, and to notify you when our staff approves, rejects, or updates them.
  • To respond to your support inquiries.
3. Sharing with third parties

We share the minimum data required to deliver each feature:

  • WhatsApp Business Cloud API (Meta Platforms, Inc.) — we send your phone number and a one-time code so WhatsApp can deliver the verification message and order/account notifications. Meta’s privacy policy applies to that processing.
  • Our hosting infrastructure — account, shipment, and transaction data is stored on servers we operate or rent under standard commercial agreements.

We do not sell your personal data, share it for advertising, or use it to train machine-learning models.

4. Data security
  • All requests between the App and our servers travel over HTTPS (TLS).
  • Authentication tokens are stored in your device’s secure keystore (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore).
  • Server access is restricted to authorized staff and protected by role-based permissions.
5. Data retention & deletion

We retain account and shipment information for as long as your account is active, plus the period required to honour our legal, accounting, and customs-record obligations.

You can request deletion or export of your personal data at any time by contacting us at the address below. Once we close your account, the App will no longer have access to your data.

6. Children

The App is intended for adult business clients. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

7. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your data.
  • Withdraw consent for non-essential processing.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our App evolves. The “Effective” date at the top reflects the current version. Material changes will be communicated through the App.
